Frequently asked questions.

What size of cake should I order?

This depends on the number of people you want to feed. Typically a 4 inch, two layer cake feeds 1-4 people. A five inch three layer cake is usually 6-10 servings. A six inch cake, three layer cake feeds 10-15 people. An eight inch, three layer cake feeds 20-30, and a ten inch, three layer cake feeds 35-45 people. I usually make my cakes three layers, this is customizable.

“Layers” are the circles of cake, so usually my cakes have: cake layer, buttercream, filling, cake layer, buttercream, filling, cake layer buttercream. “Tiers” refer to the amount of cakes stacked on top of each other. So a three tiered cake would have a 9 inch cake, 6 inch cake and a 4 inch cake standing on top of eachother.

What flavour should I get?

Flavours are very personal. The most popular have been; confetti, vanilla, chocolate and lemon. Most popular filling is lemon curd.

Red Velvet, Raspberry, Strawberry, Lavender-Orange, Lavender-Lemon, Lemon Chiffon, Mango Chiffon, Pomegranate, Caramel, Carrot with Cream Cheese Filling, Vanilla with Pistachio Cream, Pistachio Swirl with Pistachio Knafeh, Blueberry, Chocolate with Dark Chocolate Ganache, Vanilla with Peach Compote, Almond-Peach, Vanilla with Cherry Compote, Matcha with Strawberry Filling, Lime with Cream Cheese Filling, Passionfruit, Pineapple-Pistachio, Chocolate-Pistachio. To name a few :) See more in the Custom Cakes page.

I can accommodate pretty much any flavour. If you have something in mind, let me know.

Do you offer vegan/dairy-free/gluten-free items?

YES! I actually love doing cakes for people who typically do not get to enjoy them. I do my best to offer a range of choices. Everything I make is Kosher, and pork free. The vanilla usually work with is alcohol based, I do have halal vanilla that can easily be swapped. Please do make all requests and allergies known at time of booking. I cannot guarantee that an item has not crossed paths with an allergen. Please note that chocolate has a higher risk of coming in contact with tree nuts.

How much notice to do need for an order?

Minimum notice for a cake is fourteen days, cupcakes are five days. Bookings after these times can possibly be accommodated for additional fees tbd. Bookings are filling quite fast lately, so book as early as you can to secure your desired spot!

Is halfkanga AODA compliant?

halfkanga has less than 50 employees (one to be exact), which means that the website and content does not have to be adhere to WCAG 2.0 level A or higher. This website does have written descriptions on pictures. Although this is not a requirement, halfkanga still wants to be as accessible as possible. If you need assistance or have a suggestion please reach out.

How do I pay for my order?

I accept e-transfer. A deposit of 50% is due upon booking to secure the order. If this deposit is not received within 24 hours then your order is not secured. The second half of payment is due the day before your order date. I provide Invoices.

How do I transport and serve my baked goods?

For travel, place on floor of vehicle with air conditioning on / no heat. Should not sit at an angle. No refunds will be given for goods that break or melt after pick-up/delivery. Please refrigerate, take out one hour before serving, and let sit at room temperature. Butter hardens in the fridge, this allows the butter in your goods to soften. For how to get the most out of your cake slices watch this video. Enjoy!
